Baramulla Volleyball Championship 2026 Concludes with Strong Anti-Drug Message and Sporting Excellence
BARAMULLA, June 4: The Baramulla Volleyball Championship 2026 concluded on a high note at the Showket Ali Indoor Stadium, Baramulla, bringing to an end a two-month-long sporting event that showcased athletic talent, youth engagement and community participation across the district.
Jointly organised by the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army and the District Sports Council, the championship was held in two phases from April 4 to June 4, 2026. The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from 32 men's and women's teams representing different areas of Baramulla district, highlighting the growing popularity of volleyball among local youth.
The final matches featured intense competition and impressive displays of skill and sportsmanship. Amargarh Volleyball Club emerged as champions in the men's category, while Khelo India Centre Volleyball Club secured the women's title following a strong performance in the tournament.
Held under the theme, “Wadi-e-Tarjuman – Baramulla Youth Says Yes to Sports, No to Drugs,” the championship was organised in support of the Nasha-Mukt Abhiyan, promoting awareness against substance abuse and encouraging youth to adopt healthy and constructive lifestyles through sports.
The event aimed to channel the energy of young people towards discipline, fitness and positive social engagement, while reinforcing the role of sports in fostering personal development and community well-being.
The closing ceremony was attended by senior civil administration officials, sports authorities, educationists and students. The dignitaries commended the collaborative efforts of the organisers in strengthening the sporting culture in the district and providing meaningful opportunities for youth development across the Valley.
