Jammu, April 05: A delegation of the Bhartiya Dalit Sahitya Academy, led by its President and former Chief Secretary B.R. Kundal, today called on Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, at the Assembly Secretariat here.
During the meeting, the delegation donated 22 copies of a book titled “History of Dr B.R. Ambedkar” to the Assembly Library. The publication has been brought out by the Education Department of the Government of Maharashtra.
Appreciating the gesture, the Speaker described Dr B.R. Ambedkar as the chief architect of the Indian Constitution, an eminent jurist and a steadfast champion of the marginalized sections of society. He said Ambedkar’s life exemplifies the transformative power of education and the resilience of the human spirit in overcoming systemic discrimination.
He further noted that literature on Ambedkar’s life and philosophy would serve as a source of inspiration for future generations, adding that his ideals continue to guide the pursuit of social justice, equality, liberty and fraternity.
Secretary, Legislative Assembly, Manoj Kumar Pandita, along with members of the delegation including P.L. Bhushan, H.R. Phonsa, Nagar Mal, R.L. Bhagat and Vinay Bhagat, were also present on the occasion.
