Srinagar, June 3: BJP State General Secretary (Organisation) for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Ashok Koul, joined thousands of devotees at Srinagar’s historic Khanqah-e-Moula shrine on the occasion of Urs Shah-e-Hamdan (RA). The annual spiritual gathering honors the legacy of Mir Sayyid Ali Hamadani (RA), a revered Sufi saint instrumental in spreading Islam and Sufism in Kashmir.
Koul participated in the prayers and paid tribute to Shah-e-Hamdan’s enduring teachings of peace, spiritual enlightenment, and communal harmony. “I pray for lasting peace, unity, and brotherhood in Jammu & Kashmir,” he stated, underscoring the universal appeal of Sufi values that rise above religious and political divides.
His presence was seen as a gesture of respect toward Kashmir’s rich spiritual and syncretic heritage.
The Urs drew large crowds from across the Valley, marked by Quran recitations, special prayers, and spiritual discourses throughout the day.
