Chief Minister Meets Prime Minister, Presses for Statehood Restoration and Enhanced Development Support for J&K

New Delhi, June 11: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and discussed a range of issues concerning Jammu and Kashmir, with a particular focus on the early restoration of statehood, economic development and governance. During the meeting, the Chief Minister apprised the Prime Minister of the prevailing economic situation in the Union Territory and reviewed the progress of ongoing development initiatives. He emphasized the importance of restoring statehood at the earliest to strengthen democratic institutions and facilitate effective governance. The Chief Minister also sought continued support from the Government of India for accelerating economic growth, improving connectivity, generating employment opportunities, expanding infrastructure and enhancing public welfare across Jammu and Kashmir. According to officials, the discussions covered key developmental priorities aimed at ensuring inclusive growth and sustained progress in the region. Omar Abdullah also congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing 12 uninterrupted years in office and acknowledged the Centre’s support for various development programmes in Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting comes amid continued efforts by the Jammu and Kashmir administration to advance infrastructure projects, strengthen public services and promote economic development across the Union Territory.
