CM Omar Abdullah Attends ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ Screening at Srinagar’s INOX

SRINAGAR, September 8: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday attended a screening of Mirzapur: The Movie at INOX Multiplex in Shivpora, Srinagar, as part of the ongoing International Film Festival Jammu & Kashmir (IFFJK), being held under the theme ‘Rang-e-Cinema’. The screening offered the Chief Minister an opportunity to join cinema enthusiasts and audiences in experiencing the festival’s diverse cinematic programme. During the visit, Omar Abdullah interacted with the film’s lead actors, including Pankaj Tripathi, who reprises his popular role as Kaleen Bhaiya, and Divyenndu, known for his portrayal of Munna Bhaiya in the Mirzapur series. The Chief Minister felicitated the actors and welcomed their participation in the maiden edition of the IFFJK. He also appreciated their contribution to Indian cinema and expressed hope that the presence of prominent artistes and filmmakers in Jammu & Kashmir would further strengthen the region’s longstanding association with the film industry. Omar Abdullah said the participation of leading personalities from the world of cinema would help promote a vibrant film ecosystem in Jammu & Kashmir and encourage greater engagement between filmmakers, artists and local talent. The first International Film Festival of Jammu & Kashmir was inaugurated by the Chief Minister at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) on September 7. The four-day festival has brought together filmmakers, artists, delegates and cinema enthusiasts from across India and abroad, with participation from more than 30 countries and over 130 films being showcased. The festival seeks to celebrate Jammu & Kashmir’s enduring relationship with cinema while providing a platform for audiences and filmmakers to experience and engage with diverse cinematic traditions from around the world. Former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo, Director Information Shreya Singhal and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.
