Srinagar, Oct 22 (ANB): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday visited the family of Dr. Shahnawaz Ahmad Dar, one of seven victims killed in a terror attack at a construction site in Gagangeer, Sonamarg, on Sunday evening.
MLA Khansahib Saif-ud-din Bhat, who accompanied the chief minister along with advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, told reporters that Abdullah expressed his condolences to the family and assured them that he would personally bear the education expenses of Dr. Shahnawaz’s son.
The terror attack, which took place late Sunday, claimed seven lives and has drawn widespread condemnation across the J&K. Dr. Shahnawaz, along with six other workers, was shot dead at a tunnel construction site on the Srinagar-Leh national highway.
Dr. Shahnawaz, a respected community figure, leaves behind his wife, two sons, and a daughter.
He had been posted at the construction site by APCO Infratech, the infrastructure company where he worked.
The incident has deeply shaken the Budgam community, with large numbers of mourners gathering at Dr. Shahnawaz's home to pay their respects. (ANB)
