New Delhi : 25:02:26:ANB : Troops of the Southern Command carried out Exercise Agni Varsha at the Pokhran Field Firing Ranges on February 24, 2026, demonstrating a high level of operational preparedness and integrated combat capability in the desert sector.
Conducted in a realistic operational environment, the exercise validated the coordinated deployment of combined arms, precision long-range firepower and network-enabled command and control systems. Synchronised fire and manoeuvre drills underscored the combat effectiveness of mechanised formations operating seamlessly across multiple domains.
The event was witnessed by defence journalists from 25 countries, who observed the speed, accuracy and operational synchronisation achieved by Indian Army formations in the Thar Desert.
A wide array of modern battlefield technologies was employed, including unmanned aerial systems, counter-drone measures, precision strike rockets, advanced artillery platforms and networked surveillance assets. The integrated force package featured T-90 main battle tanks, infantry combat vehicles, K-9 Vajra self-propelled howitzers, Sharang and Bofors artillery systems, rocket platforms, indigenous Advanced Light Helicopter weapon system integrated variants, Apache attack helicopters, and various surveillance and strike drones.
The exercise reinforced the Indian Army’s continued emphasis on technological advancement, indigenisation and capability development, while reaffirming its readiness to execute swift, coordinated and decisive operations in alignment with national security priorities. ANB
