Leh, Nov 13: The First Lady of Ladakh, Bindu Gupta, highlighted the importance of inclusive education and empowering children with special needs, emphasizing that every child deserves equal access to quality learning opportunities. She said true progress comes from an education system that fosters empathy, confidence, and self-reliance among all learners, ensuring no child is left behind.
Speaking at the inaugural distribution ceremony of the Braille Kit ‘Annie’ at Chuchot Yokma PM Government High School, she addressed students from the Centre for Wellness and Special Abilities (CWSA) across Leh. The event, organized by the School Education Department, aimed to promote inclusive education in Ladakh’s challenging terrain. The ceremony was attended by Secretary, School Education Department Banu Prabha; Director, School Education Tashi Dolma; along with school heads, teachers, and students.
As the chief guest, Bindu Gupta praised the dedication of CWSA teachers and staff for their tireless efforts in nurturing specially-abled children. She described the event as more than just a distribution ceremony, calling it a reflection of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, aur Sabka Prayas,” inspired by the Prime Minister’s vision.
She also commended the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, for ensuring that quality education reaches every child, even in remote areas, noting that Ladakh is emerging as a model for educational innovation and social inclusion under his guidance.
Highlighting the significance of the ‘Annie’ Braille kits, she called them tools of empowerment that enable children to learn with confidence and independence. She also praised students for their performances, which reflected their talent and enthusiasm for learning.
Urging students to pursue excellence, Bindu Gupta encouraged them to make the most of available opportunities and contribute to the progress of society and the nation. She stressed the importance of collective efforts to create a society where every child moves forward with dignity and equal opportunity.
Administrative Secretary Banu Prabha shared that 622 differently-abled students have been identified across Ladakh and announced plans for hostel facilities, special care classes, and dedicated caretakers. Director of School Education Tashi Dolma welcomed dignitaries and informed that 44 specially-abled students are currently enrolled under CWSA.
The event concluded with cultural performances and the distribution of Braille kits among students, NGOs, and schools.
