Gadigarh Police arrests drug peddler with heroin

JAMMU, MAY 16: Continuing its crackdown against drug trafficking, Gadigarh Police apprehended a drug peddler and recovered heroin-like substance. According to police sources, a team from Police Post Gadigarh laid a naka at Balol Bridge near Rohi Morh for routine vehicle checking. During the checking, the police team intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration number PB10CY-3681 and apprehended one person riding the vehicle. The accused later identified himself as Vishal Kumar, son of Yashpal, resident of Laswara area of Bishnah. Police said that during his personal search, approximately 6.88 grams of heroin (chitta)-like substance was recovered from his possession and was subsequently seized on the spot. The accused was immediately taken into custody and a case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered. Investigation into the matter has been initiated to ascertain the source and intended distribution network of the recovered contraband. The naka operation was carried out by *Incharge Police Post Gadigarh PSI Jarnail Singh under the supervision of SHO Satwari Jai Paul Singh.* Jammu and Kashmir Police said the anti-drug drive will continue with intensified checking and surveillance to curb the menace of narcotics in the region.
