Srinagar, May 20: Hundreds of people, including youth and prominent workers from the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference and other political parties, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party during a grand joining programme organised at Jawahar Nagar in Srinagar on Wednesday
The joining ceremony was held in the presence of BJP J&K UT General Secretary (Organisation) Ashok Koul, Chairperson of the J&K Waqf Board and Minister of State Darakhshan Andrabi, BJP J&K UT General Secretary Mohammad Anwar Khan and other senior party leaders.
Among those who joined the BJP were Danish Riyaz Dar from the National Conference, Shabir Langoo, Mohammad Yousuf Zargar, Vice President of Bhartiya Krishak Samaj J&K, Tariq Sofi and Sanoor Choudhary.
Welcoming the new entrants into the party fold, Ashok Koul said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly the youth, were increasingly losing faith in the ruling National Conference over issues of corruption, misgovernance and failure to address public welfare and development.
He said the BJP had emerged as a party committed to transparency, development, good governance and equal opportunities for all sections of society. He further stated that the growing support for the BJP across Kashmir reflected public confidence in the leadership and developmental vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Dr Darakhshan Andrabi and other senior BJP leaders also welcomed the new members and said their decision to join the BJP would further strengthen efforts towards peace, development and progress in Jammu and Kashmir.
The newly inducted members expressed confidence in the BJP leadership and said they were inspired by the party’s development-oriented and people-centric policies.
