IGP Kashmir Calls for Stronger Security Grid, 24×7 Vigilance Across Central Kashmir ,

Srinagar, September 16 (ANB): Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Sujit Kumar, on Wednesday reviewed the prevailing security situation and operational preparedness across the Central Kashmir Range, directing officers to maintain round-the-clock vigilance and ensure a prompt response to emerging security challenges. The security review meeting was held at Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir and was attended by senior police officers, including DIG Central Kashmir Range Srinagar, SSPs of Srinagar, Budgam and Ganderbal, SSP PCR Kashmir, Staff Officer to IGP Kashmir, SPs of Srinagar and Budgam, all SDPOs and other senior officers. During the meeting, officers briefed the IGP on the prevailing security scenario, measures undertaken in their respective jurisdictions and the security arrangements in place to maintain peace, public order and security. IGP Sujit Kumar conducted a detailed assessment of the security grid and operational readiness across Central Kashmir, with particular focus on deployment strategies, preparedness of field formations and effective utilisation of available resources. The IGP directed officers to further strengthen counter-insurgency operations and area domination measures, while calling for intensified naka checking at vulnerable and sensitive locations. He also emphasised the need to strengthen surveillance and security checks along inter-district borders to prevent the movement of individuals or elements that could pose potential security threats. Kumar instructed field officers to keep security arrangements dynamic, flexible and responsive to the evolving ground situation. He directed them to regularly assess local security requirements and reinforce deployments wherever necessary. The IGP further stressed the importance of preventive policing and directed officers to identify potential threats at an early stage and ensure that necessary security measures remain operational at all times. He called for close coordination among field formations, effective information sharing and sustained engagement to facilitate a swift and coordinated response to any emerging situation. The meeting concluded with directions to maintain round-the-clock vigilance, strengthen preventive security mechanisms and ensure coordinated efforts among all formations to safeguard peace, public order and security across the Central Kashmir Range.
