New Delhi, November 1: ANB;The Indian Army yesterday marked two major milestones , the 40th Raising Day of the Army Aviation Corps and the 83rd Raising Day of the Intelligence Corps celebrating decades of courage, vigilance, and selfless service to the nation.
To commemorate the occasion, wreath-laying ceremonies were held at the National War Memorial in New Delhi. Lieutenant General Vinod Nambiar, Director General and Colonel Commandant of Army Aviation, and Major General Gopal Verma, Additional Director General of Military Intelligence, led officers and soldiers in paying homage to the Bravehearts who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
The solemn ceremony reflected the Army’s enduring ethos of valour, vigilance, and devotion to the motherland.
Established in 1986, the Army Aviation Corps guided by the motto “Swift and Sure” , has grown into a potent, technology-driven combat arm. It plays a vital role in battlefield mobility, reconnaissance, casualty evacuation, and humanitarian assistance. The year 2025 will mark a significant milestone for the Corps with the induction of AH-64E Apache attack helicopters, set to greatly enhance its strike and reconnaissance capabilities. Its expanding fleet of Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) continues to bolster surveillance, intelligence, and real-time battlefield awareness, ensuring readiness for future multi-domain operations.
The Intelligence Corps, raised in 1940 and celebrating 83 years of “Sada Satark” (Ever Alert) service, has evolved into a highly specialised and technology-enabled intelligence arm. It remains integral to the Army’s strategic foresight, operational preparedness, and tactical decision-making. The Corps plays a crucial role in counter-intelligence, counter-terrorism, cyber intelligence, and electronic warfare, continually adapting to emerging security challenges.
On the occasion, both Director Generals commended the unwavering dedication and professionalism of their respective Corps. They reaffirmed their commitment to innovation, operational excellence, and mission success in safeguarding the sovereignty and integrity of the nation. ANB
