Jammu, 10 July 2025:
Jammu, famously known as the “City of Temples,” is rapidly gaining recognition as a diverse tourism destination that offers a seamless blend of spirituality, natural beauty, heritage, and adventure, stated Dr. Pardeep Mahotra.
Dr. Pardeep Mahotra, Media Incharge, BJP J&K, has urged pilgrims and tourists alike to explore the hidden treasures of the Jammu region beyond the well-trodden pilgrimage circuits.
“While Kashmir is globally renowned for destinations like Amarnath, Jammu too holds immense spiritual and scenic value,” said Dr. Pardeep. “From the revered Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine in the Trikuta Hills to the sacred Shiv Khori caves and the tranquil Budha Amarnath in Poonch, Jammu offers unique and fulfilling pilgrimage experiences.”
Dr. Pardeep emphasized that the region’s tourism potential goes far beyond religious sites. “Hill stations like Patnitop, Sanasar, Bhaderwah, and Nathatop offer mesmerizing Himalayan landscapes, dense pine forests, and adventure opportunities for trekkers and nature lovers,” he said.
He also highlighted the serene twin lakes of Surinsar and Mansar, known for their spiritual and aesthetic appeal, as well as Sudh Mahadev and Mantalai, steeped in legends of Lord Shiva. The Jai Valley in Bhaderwah, with its lush greenery and snow-fed streams, was described as an untouched paradise.
Among the region’s natural wonders, Dr. Pardeep spotlighted Girgan, Valley of Seven Lake, as one of the most scenic and unexplored locations in Poonch. He further mentioned the Nandini Wildlife Sanctuary for its rich biodiversity and appeal to eco-tourists.
Dr. Pardeep also underlined Jammu's historical and cultural legacy, with references to Bahu Fort, Mubarak Mandi Palace, and Raghunath Mandir. “Jammu’s Dogra culture, cuisine, and festivals add a distinct flavor to the tourism experience,” he added.
Calling on national and international tourists, Dr. Pardeep said, “Jammu is not just a stopover to Vaishno Devi; it is a destination in itself.” He reaffirmed BJP’s commitment under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership to developing tourism infrastructure and unlocking Jammu’s full potential as a global tourism hub.
