Jammu & Kashmir Bank has been conferred with the prestigious ‘Best MSME Bank – Winner’ award at the MSME Banking Excellence Awards 2025, while also securing the runner-up position in the ‘CSR Initiative & Business Responsibility’ category. The awards recognise banks for outstanding performance and best practices in promoting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), corporate social responsibility and sustainable business models.
The awards were presented by Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal at a high-profile समारोह held in New Delhi. On behalf of the Bank, the awards were received by Chief General Manager (Business Development) Sunit Kumar and GM/Divisional Head (ROI) Khursheed Muzaffar.
Expressing his gratitude on the achievement, Managing Director and CEO Amitava Chatterjee said the Bank was deeply honoured to receive national recognition for its efforts in the MSME sector as well as its CSR initiatives. He thanked the organisers and the jury for the recognition and appreciated the dedicated efforts of the MSME and CSR teams, whose effective on-ground engagement played a key role in achieving the milestones.
Reiterating that MSMEs remain a core focus area for the Bank, the MD and CEO said that in line with national development objectives and regulatory expectations, MSME financing has been a strategic priority. He said that the Bank is exclusively implementing the UT government’s flagship Mission YUVA programme, which aims to create 1.37 lakh enterprises over the next five years, generating employment opportunities for around 4.25 lakh youth.
He further said that the Bank remains committed to supporting entrepreneurs through customised financial solutions, simplified processes, digital interventions and continuous handholding, particularly in its core geography, while steadily expanding its MSME portfolio across the country.
On CSR initiatives, the MD and CEO said that the Bank’s programmes are closely aligned with national development priorities, with a focus on education, healthcare, environmental sustainability, skill development and livelihood generation, ensuring that the Bank’s growth translates into meaningful social impact.
The jury for the awards was chaired by former Supreme Court Judge Justice Deepak Verma. The awards were organised by the Chamber of Indian Micro Small and Medium Enterprises, with the evaluation carried out by its knowledge partner, CareEdge Ratings.
