J&K BJP Completes Nomination Process for Election of National President


New Delhi, 19 January 2026: The Bharatiya Janata Party’s National Council and State Council members from Jammu and Kashmir on Monday completed the nomination process for the election of the BJP National President at the party’s National Headquarters in New Delhi.
National and state-level leaders from Jammu and Kashmir actively participated in the democratic exercise by filling and submitting nomination forms. The process was carried out under the supervision of the Returning Officer for Jammu and Kashmir, Rakesh Mahajan.
Prominent leaders present on the occasion included BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh, J&K BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma CA, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, Leader of Opposition in the J&K Assembly Sunil Sharma, MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, National Secretary Dr Narinder Singh, former state president Dr Nirmal Singh, former vice-presidents Priya Sethi, Rajiv Charak and Rakesh Mahajan, General Secretary Gopal Mahajan, district presidents Rajesh Gupta, Rohit Dubey and Rajiv Pandita, MLAs Sham Lal Sharma, Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal, Shakti Parihar, Yudhvir Sethi, Vikram Randhawa, Mohan Lal Bhagat, Dr Bharat Bhushan and Balwant Mankotia, SC Morcha President Dharminder Kumar, party spokesperson Rajni Sethi, besides other senior leaders and party functionaries.
The duly completed nomination forms proposing the name for the new BJP National President from Jammu and Kashmir were submitted to K Laxman, National Returning Officer, who also received nomination papers from the party’s national leadership.
Speaking on the occasion, Sat Sharma said the BJP distinguishes itself as a party that practices democracy not only in governance but also within its organisational framework. He said the structured and time-bound election process for the national president reflects the party’s strong commitment to collective leadership, constitutional norms and internal democracy.
Returning Officer Rakesh Mahajan said the nomination process from Jammu and Kashmir was conducted smoothly and in strict adherence to party guidelines, highlighting the discipline and democratic ethos of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
