LG Manoj Sinha Reviews Flash Flood Situation in Kishtwar, Doda; Orders Swift Restoration of Essential Services

Srinagar, June 2: Lieutenant Governor is closely monitoring the situation arising from flash floods triggered by heavy rainfall in the districts of Kishtwar and Doda. The Lieutenant Governor has reviewed the ground situation with the Deputy Commissioners of both districts and directed the administration to remain on high alert while ensuring the prompt restoration of essential public services. According to an official statement, the Lieutenant Governor spoke with the Deputy Commissioners of Kishtwar and Doda to assess the impact of the heavy rainfall and the resultant flash floods. He instructed the district administrations and emergency response agencies to continuously monitor the situation and take all necessary precautionary measures to safeguard public life and property. In a post on X, the Lieutenant Governor stated that no loss of life or damage to property due to the flash floods has been reported so far. He said emergency response teams have been directed to remain vigilant and maintain round-the-clock monitoring of vulnerable areas. The Lieutenant Governor further directed the Deputy Commissioners to ensure the swift restoration of roads, highways, water supply pipelines, and other essential infrastructure affected by the inclement weather. He emphasized that field personnel and specialized medical teams have been placed on high alert to respond promptly to any emergency situation. He also informed that a comprehensive assessment of damages, if any, will be undertaken immediately after field verification is completed by the concerned departments. Expressing grief over a separate weather-related tragedy, the Lieutenant Governor conveyed his condolences to the family of Pinki Devi of Khuddhar in Doda, who lost her life after being struck by lightning. He directed the Deputy Commissioner of Doda to provide immediate relief and all possible assistance to the bereaved family. The district administrations, disaster management authorities, and emergency services continue to remain on alert as weather conditions are being closely monitored across the affected regions.
