LG Sinha Calls Mahayajna Dharma Sammelan a Symbol of Harmony and Cultural Revival in Baramulla
SRINAGAR, July 19: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha on Sunday attended the Mahayajna Dharma Sammelan in Baramulla, describing the gathering as a symbol of spiritual resurgence, communal harmony and national unity while highlighting the region's rich cultural and spiritual legacy.
Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor said that in the Sanatan tradition, a yajna signifies selfless sacrifice and collective responsibility aimed at promoting global peace.
Calling the event a "spiritual rebirth" for the region, LG Sinha said the Sammelan conveys a powerful message of harmony and national unity from Baramulla to the entire Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and the rest of the country.
He said Baramulla had, for centuries, served as a gateway of culture, a confluence of ideas and a renowned centre of spiritual knowledge, adding that the Mahayajna Dharma Sammelan reflects efforts to revive the district's historic cultural and spiritual heritage.
The Lieutenant Governor said the event was breathing new life into Jammu and Kashmir's spiritual legacy, which has given the region a distinct identity across the world. Referring to the ancient prayer "Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu" (May all beings everywhere be happy and healthy), he said the teachings of India's sages continue to offer the world a message of peace, goodwill and coexistence at a time of growing global divisions and conflict.
Highlighting India's inclusive traditions, LG Sinha said the country's spiritual heritage teaches respect for every individual irrespective of language, region, caste or customs, and described the Sammelan as a living expression of national unity and India's civilisational ethos.
He also called for strengthening the values of brotherhood, patience, compassion, sensitivity and selfless love among the younger generation to help them navigate a rapidly changing world.
Emphasising environmental conservation, the Lieutenant Governor said protecting nature should be regarded as a spiritual responsibility, noting that Indian civilisation has long revered rivers, trees and the Earth as sacred.
On cultural preservation, he urged society to safeguard languages, literature, art and cultural traditions while passing on the wisdom of previous generations to the youth. He said the true success of the Mahayajna Dharma Sammelan would lie in inspiring young people to embrace moral values, innovation and leadership while carrying forward India's rich cultural heritage.
