Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Graces IIT Bhilai’s Annual Convocation , Highlights Innovation, Emerging Technologies, and New Opportunities for Graduates

Jammu, November 10, 2025:
Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha graced and addressed the annual convocation ceremony of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, today.

In his address, the Lieutenant Governor emphasized that young engineers and scientists must focus on providing innovative solutions to propel industries and the nation forward. “Our prime objective is to improve the lives of people and drive economic growth through cutting-edge innovation,” he stated.

Encouraging the graduating students to embrace curiosity and courage in their pursuits, Shri Sinha said, “Explore new ground, follow unconventional paths, and have the courage to know the unknown to become innovators and pioneers. Where there is fearlessness, there is invention. Where there is courage, there is new scientific discovery.”

Highlighting the transformative potential of emerging technologies, the Lieutenant Governor remarked that artificial intelligence, automation, and related technologies are still in relatively early stages but are entering a phase of rapid acceleration. “This acceleration will shape the future of global growth and development,” he noted.

He further observed, “India is a global leader in key areas of innovation. We have succeeded in creating a dynamic technology ecosystem and are well-positioned to lead deep-tech ventures across the world.”

Addressing the students, Shri Sinha underlined the growing demand for professionals skilled in generative design, predictive maintenance, software engineering, renewable energy, and green technologies. “Software development has already recorded over 5% growth, and considering global demand, millions of professionals will be required each year,” he said.

He also highlighted opportunities in high-growth sectors such as defence technology, aerospace, biotechnology, automation, robotics, and healthcare—urging graduates to seize these emerging possibilities.

“Scientists and engineers across the world are competing to explore new frontiers of technology and to develop better, faster, and more efficient innovations. You must create your own space in this global exploration and make a positive impact,” he told the students.

The Lieutenant Governor also noted India’s robust startup ecosystem, emphasizing that nearly 89% of Indian startups are engaged in technological innovation. “Through the Seven Pillars of the AI Mission, India will drive a new revolution in agriculture, healthcare, climate action, and governance. This is truly a golden period for all graduating students,” he added.

Commending Bhilai’s historic contribution to India’s industrial growth, Shri Sinha urged IIT Bhilai to carry forward this proud legacy. “The institute must act as a powerful force in shaping the future of technical education and innovation in the country,” he said.
