Manoj Sinha Inaugurates 2nd Edition of Sikh Cricket Premier League in Jammu, Calls Youth the Pillars of Nation-Building

Jammu, February 28, 2026: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday inaugurated the second edition of the Sikh Cricket Premier League (SCPL) at the Cricket Ground of University of Jammu, reaffirming his faith in the transformative power of youth.
Addressing players and attendees, the Lieutenant Governor described the younger generation as the embodiment of limitless possibilities. “Our youth are the solution to every challenge. Provide them with appropriate opportunities, strong platforms, and genuine mentorship, and they will script history,” he said.
Encouraging participants to train with unwavering discipline and compete with unbreakable unity both on and off the field, he remarked that the Sikh Cricket Premier League is shaping multifaceted character traits among young players. He noted that such initiatives instill discipline, leadership, teamwork, patience, and self-belief—qualities essential for personal growth and nation-building.
He appreciated the efforts of the All J&K Sikh Coordination Committee and Hari Singh Nalwa Cricket Club, Jammu, stating that the league reflects the spirit of brotherhood and social harmony. To promote inclusivity, each participating team includes youth from different communities.
“The energy of our youth is like a river; when guided with purpose, it becomes a source of life and progress,” he observed, adding that true societal wealth lies not in physical infrastructure but in fresh ideas and innovation.
The Lieutenant Governor emphasized that sporting platforms like the Sikh Cricket Premier League must nurture youth who see sports not merely as recreation, but as a forge for enduring life values. “When young minds align with purposeful missions, they understand that great transformations require grand visions. Entrepreneurship and sports possess that transformative alchemy,” he added.
Highlighting developments in the sports sector, he said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jammu & Kashmir has witnessed a historic transformation in sports infrastructure through substantial support under the Prime Minister’s Development Programme (PMDP).
He further stated that Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during his recent visit to the Union Territory, assured ₹200 crore assistance for sports development with support from BCCI, FIFA, and other sporting bodies.
Prominent dignitaries present on the occasion included S. Ajit Singh, Chairman of the All J&K Sikh Coordination Committee; Shri Vikram Randhawa, MLA Bahu; Shri Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu; Shri Bhim Sen Tuti, IGP Jammu; Shri Shakti Pathak, Director Anti-Corruption Bureau, along with senior officials, coaches, players, and a large number of youth.
