Srinagar, Oct 29 (ANB): Member of Parliament Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi has formally written to the newly appointed Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, congratulating him on his role and urging him to focus on several critical issues affecting the region. In his letter, Mehdi highlights a range of societal concerns that, if addressed, could positively impact the welfare of the people.

The letter, according to the Associated News Bureau (ANB) identifies five priority areas:

 1. Release of Prisoners: Mehdi stresses the need for immediate attention to the plight of prisoners detained without trial, calling on the administration to ensure justice and uphold the rule of law.

 2. Rationalization of Reservation Policies: Advocating for an inclusive environment, he suggests a review of reservation policies to promote social equity while maintaining high standards.

 3. Filling of Government Vacancies: Mehdi emphasizes the importance of filling vacant government positions to create job opportunities and reduce unemployment, strengthening the local economy.

 4. Electricity Tariffs and Supply: With winter approaching, he points out the burden of high electricity tariffs on consumers, recommending a reduction to aid families during harsh weather.

 5. Verification Process Reforms: He calls for a review of the verification process, describing it as excessively harsh and urging fair procedures for all applicants.

In conclusion, Mehdi expressed hope that the new administration would address these issues for a more progressive and just governance. (ANB)
