Public Sector Banks, Regional Rural Banks to Remain Open on September 27
New Delhi, September 23: Public Sector Banks (PSBs) and Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) will function normally on Sunday, September 27, 2026, to ensure uninterrupted banking services for customers.
The Ministry of Finance said the decision has been taken in view of the proposed three-day nationwide bank strike called by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) from September 28 to 30, coinciding with the preceding weekend holidays on September 26 and 27.
According to the Ministry, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the operation of all bank branches, offices, ATM-linked branches and currency chests on September 27.
The move is aimed at ensuring that essential banking services remain available to the public and that customers do not face prolonged disruption due to the proposed strike.
The Ministry said the Government and bank managements have appealed to the unions to defer the proposed strike and have taken measures to ensure continuity of essential banking services. ANB
