Jammu, Feb 24: ANB : In a significant political development, Dr. Sunil Bhardwaj, MLA Ramnagar, has moved a resolution in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly seeking declaration of Ramnagar as a full-fledged district.
The proposed resolution aims at expediting developmental initiatives in the Ramnagar constituency by granting it district status, thereby bringing the region at par with other districts of the Union Territory. According to Dr. Bhardwaj, the move is intended to ensure administrative justice for the people by enabling faster decision-making, streamlined governance, and improved allocation of resources.
He stated that elevation to district status would significantly strengthen infrastructure development, healthcare services, educational institutions, road connectivity, and urban planning. The proposal also seeks to enhance economic growth, promote tourism potential, and improve overall living standards in the area.
The resolution is scheduled to be tabled on the floor of the Assembly on March 31. It is expected to receive support from local leaders and residents who have long advocated for administrative reorganization to address developmental concerns.
Notably, this marks the first time that a formal resolution seeking separate district status for Ramnagar has been moved in the J&K Assembly, a development being described by supporters as a historic step for the region.ANB
