Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu and Kashmir President Sat Sharma on Monday led a high-level party delegation to the cloudburst-affected areas of Kathua, Jasrota, and Hiranagar Assembly segments to assess the ground situation and extend solidarity to the victims.
The devastating cloudbursts have caused widespread loss of life and property in several villages. Sharma, accompanied by senior party leaders and legislators, visited Jodh, Dilwan, Ward No. 7 in Kathua, Pakke Kothe, Mathre Chack, Londi, and Chan Charakhdi in Hiranagar besides a relief camp set up for displaced families. He interacted with residents, heard their grievances, and assured them of all possible help.
At Government Medical College Kathua, Sharma met the injured and their families, took stock of their treatment, and instructed officials to ensure the best possible medical care.
Prominent BJP leaders including J&K General Secretaries Sanjita Dogra, Baldev Singh Billawaria, and Gopal Mahajan; MLAs Rajiv Jasrotia, Adv. Vijay Sharma, and Dr. Bharat Bhushan; District President Updesh Andotra; DDC Chairperson Col. Maan Singh; and Vice-Chairperson Raghunandan Singh Bablu were part of the delegation.
The team also held a meeting with Deputy Commissioner Kathua and other senior officials to review relief and rescue operations, compensation measures, and rehabilitation plans for the affected families.
Expressing deep anguish over the tragedy, Sat Sharma said the calamity has inflicted “immense suffering and irreparable losses” but assured that no victim would be left alone in this crisis. “The BJP stands shoulder to shoulder with the people of Kathua. We will ensure timely relief, rehabilitation, and long-term safety measures,” he said.
