Terrorism an Existential Threat, Society Must Stand Up: LG Manoj Sinha
Lt Governor urges citizens to expose terror sympathisers, calls for collective fight against radicalisation
Jammu, November 13, 2025: Addressing the 19th (Second Special) Convocation of the University of Jammu, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha issued a strong call for collective societal action against terrorism, describing it as an “existential threat” to peace, stability, and progress.
“The security forces are determined to dismantle the terror ecosystem, but society too must join this fight and discharge its duties,” Sinha declared, urging citizens to expose those who provide shelter or ideological support to militants. “If people do not stand up strongly against terrorists, it will destroy our stability, peace and progress,” he warned.
Highlighting the critical role of public vigilance, the Lieutenant Governor said that terrorism is a multifaceted challenge that cannot be countered by security agencies alone. “Society must actively counter terrorism by recognizing and reporting suspicious activities and confronting radicalisation efforts,” he said.
Calling on “enlightened citizens” to reject extremist narratives, Sinha stressed that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have suffered the scourge of terrorism for more than three decades. “Today, the youth are dreaming of goals similar to their counterparts in the rest of the country—seeking a better life and career,” he said, expressing optimism about the region’s transformation.
