Two Drug Peddlers Arrested with Heroin in Kathua, Vehicle Seized


Kathua, Apr 5 (ANB): Continuing its crackdown on drug trafficking, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kathua district arrested two alleged drug peddlers and recovered approximately 20.36 grams of heroin-like substance during a naka checking operation in the Dharamkot area of Billawar.
       Police said the operation was carried out on April 4 by a team from Police Station Billawar under the supervision of senior officers. A special checkpoint was established on Dhar Road near Dharamkot, where a car bearing registration number JK08Q-4484, coming from Dayalachak towards Billawar, was signalled to stop.
      On noticing the police presence, the driver attempted to flee the spot. However, the alert police team chased the vehicle and successfully intercepted it, apprehending two individuals under suspicious circumstances.
    The accused were identified as Bagh Shah, a resident of Karandi Kalan, and Mohammad Rafi, a resident of Dhangdevpur, both from the Marheen area of Kathua district.
      During their personal search, police recovered 20.36 grams of heroin (commonly known as “chitta”), two mobile phones, and cash amounting to ₹5,430. The vehicle used in the alleged commission of the crime was also seized.
    A case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Billawar, and further investigation is underway to identify forward and backward linkages in the drug supply chain. ANB
