Srinagar, Feb 18, ANB: The Water Works Division, Srinagar, has announced a 30-hour shutdown of the Sindh Power Canal HEP Old Ganderbal on February 22 and 23, 2025, to facilitate repair work and desilting of the forebay. This will severely affect the raw water supply to the Nishat, Alusteng, and Rangil water treatment plants, leading to a disruption in potable water availability across major parts of Srinagar and adjoining areas.
According to the official notice, in possession with Associated News Bureau read, localities will experience water shortages during the shutdown period, Zakura, Gulab Bagh, Alusteng, Shuhama, Hadoora, Chatterhama, Khalmulla, Habak, Naseem Bagh, Busserbagh, Malla Bagh, Pandach, Buchpora, Soura, Anchar, Bohlohlpora, Zoonimar, Nowshera, Bagh-I-Ali Mardan Khan, Zadibal, Hawal, Alamgari Bazar, Rajouri Kadal, Nallahmar, Nawakalal, Bohori Kadal, Nowhatta, Lal Bazar, Hazratbal, Sadribal, Nigeen, Saida Kadal, Rainawari, Khanyar, Khayam, Nowpora, Dalgate, Konkan, Gagribal, Nehru Park, Dal areas, Brein, Gupkar, Sonwar, Indra Nagar, Shivpora, Batwara, Pandrethan, Lal Chowk, Court Road, Residency Road, M.A Road, Bishembar Nagar, Babadem, Fateh Kadal, Barbarshah, Fateh Kadal, Habba Kadal, Gow Kadal, Karan Nagar, Kakasarai, Balgarden, Chattabal, Kawdara, Eidgah, Mahrajgunj, Zaina Kadal, Saidpora, Bemina, Firdous Abad, Parts of Batamaloo, Qamarwari, ZainaKoot, Noorabad, Umarabad, and adjacent areas.
Authorities have urged residents to store an adequate water supply in advance. Hospitals in and around the city have been advised to stay in close coordination with the PHE authorities to manage water requirements, it reads
