The four-day-long celebrations marking the 77th Republic Day concluded on Thursday with the traditional Beating Retreat Ceremony held at the MA Stadium here. The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, attended the event as the Chief Guest.
The ceremony was marked by a display of national pride as Brass and Pipe Drum bands of the Armed Forces and Jammu and Kashmir Police presented a series of patriotic compositions. Musical renditions, including the iconic “Ae Mere Watan Ke Logon,” drew wide appreciation from the audience.
In recognition of exemplary performance and discipline, the Lieutenant Governor felicitated contingents of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and Security Forces, the Parade Commander, ex-servicemen, Pipe and Brass bands, marching contingents comprising boys and girls, daredevils, commentators, cultural performers, and recipients of the best tableaux awards.
The event also included the felicitation of winners of the Vande Mataram singing competition and the Union Territory-level online essay writing competition organised by the Department of Information and Public Relations.
The Beating Retreat Ceremony concluded with the rendition of “Saare Jahan Se Achha,” accompanied by a synchronized sound-and-light show and a fireworks display, followed by the National Anthem.
