CBI Arrests Delhi Food & Supply Department Official in Bribery Case
New Delhi, May 22, 2026: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an Assistant Commissioner of the Food and Supply Department, Asian Market, Pushp Vihar, New Delhi, in connection with an alleged bribery case.
According to a CBI press release, the agency registered the case on May 20, 2026, following allegations that the official had demanded illegal gratification at the rate of Rs 100 per ration card for the allotment and distribution of 475 ration cards.
The agency stated that around 120 ration cards were proposed to be allotted to each nearby ration shop, including that of the complainant. Based on the alleged demand, the total bribe amount sought from the complainant was estimated at approximately Rs 12,000.
CBI officials said a trap was laid on May 21, during which the accused Assistant Commissioner was allegedly caught red-handed while demanding and accepting Rs 10,000 from the complainant.
The accused has been arrested and further investigation into the matter is underway.
The CBI reiterated its commitment to curbing corruption and urged citizens to report instances of bribery and corrupt practices involving public officials.
