CBI Arrests Two ED Officials in Rs 5 Lakh Bribery Case in Lucknow
Lucknow, October 23: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended two officials of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), including an Enforcement Officer and a Head Constable posted at the agency’s Lucknow Zonal Office, in connection with an alleged Rs 5 lakh bribery case.
According to the CBI, the case was registered on October 23, 2026, following a complaint alleging that the ED Head Constable had demanded a bribe from the complainant’s father in exchange for extending favourable treatment in an ED case. The complainant’s father had reportedly received two summonses from the ED’s Lucknow Zonal Office in August and September 2026.
The CBI subsequently laid a trap on October 23 and allegedly caught the Head Constable red-handed while demanding and accepting Rs 5 lakh on behalf of the Enforcement Officer for extending favour to the complainant’s father in the case.
Both officials have been apprehended, and further investigation is underway, the agency said.
The CBI reiterated its commitment to combating corruption and urged citizens to report instances of bribery or demands for illegal gratification by public officials.
Citizens can report such matters to the CBI’s Anti-Corruption Branch in Delhi at the CBI Building, first floor, CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. The agency has also provided the contact numbers 011-24367887 and 9650394847 for complaints and relevant information.anb
