CBI Registers FIR Against Punjab CM’s OSD, Five Others; Searches Conducted at Eight Locations

New Delhi, October 6: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against six persons, including the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Punjab Chief Minister, following directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and a report received from the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The FIR pertains to allegations of corruption involving the alleged manipulation and influencing of postings of officers, including IAS and IPS officers, departmental proceedings, policy formulation, administrative approvals, tender conditions, licensing matters, land-use conversion, property disputes, and revenue and land-related issues in exchange for alleged pecuniary benefits. According to the CBI, it has also been alleged that certain public servants accessed and shared drafts of government orders and policies with private individuals before their official issuance. The accused named in the case include Rajbir Ghuman, OSD to the Punjab Chief Minister; Nitin Gohal; Jitin Gohal alias Raja; Romi Raja Mahajan; Bir Devinder; and R.S. Nagra. The FIR also refers to unknown public servants and private persons. Following registration of the case, the CBI carried out coordinated searches at eight locations across Chandigarh, Mohali, Gurdaspur, Ludhiana, Patiala, Sangrur and Jalandhar at premises linked to the accused. During the searches, the agency seized electronic devices, including laptops and mobile phones, along with documents and other material. The seized material is being examined to determine its relevance to the allegations of bribery and other improprieties. The CBI said further investigation in the case is underway. The agency reiterated its commitment to investigating allegations of corruption and taking action against those found involved in bribery and related offences. ANB
