CM Raises Concern Over Conduct of Senior IAS Officer, Directs Protection of Junior JKAS Officer
The Chief Minister has expressed concern over the conduct of a senior IAS officer during an online government meeting, stating that the matter has been taken up with the Chief Secretary in the strongest possible terms.
Reacting to a video of the meeting circulating on social media, the Chief Minister said the senior officer’s conduct, prima facie, did not meet the standards expected of a senior IAS officer. He also expressed concern over the alleged subsequent threats issued to a junior JKAS officer, describing the development as an aggravating factor.
The Chief Minister said he had raised the issue directly with the Chief Secretary and directed him to ensure that the junior JKAS officer does not face any retaliatory action in connection with the incident.
He further pointed out that, under the existing administrative framework in the Union Territory, control over IAS officers rests with Lok Bhavan, while reiterating his intervention to safeguard the interests of the junior officer.
The Chief Minister’s remarks come amid discussions over the incident on social media, bringing the conduct of public officials and the need to uphold professional standards, institutional decorum and mutual respect in official interactions into focus. ANB
