New Delhi, March 25, 2026: The curtain raiser for North Tech Symposium 2026 was held at Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi on Tuesday, formally announcing the upcoming symposium scheduled to take place in Prayagraj from May 4 to 6, 2026, in coordination with the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM).
The event brought together key stakeholders from the Indian Army, industry, start-ups, academia, defence public sector undertakings (DPSUs), paramilitary forces and the Ministry of Defence to outline the vision of the symposium and encourage broader participation. It was attended by Lieutenant General Anindya Sengupta, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Central Command; Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, GOC-in-C, Northern Command; and Neeraj Gupta, Vice President, SIDM, along with other senior officials.
North Tech Symposium 2026 is being jointly organised by the Northern and Central Commands of the Indian Army. The initiative seeks to integrate operational perspectives from both commands to better align technological advancements with field requirements. The symposium is themed “Raksha Triveni Sangam – Where Technology, Industry and Soldiering Converge” and aims to provide a collaborative platform for the armed forces, industry, innovators and academia to address operational challenges through technology-driven solutions.
The event will feature technology displays by industry partners based on a compendium of problem definition statements released during the curtain raiser, as well as earlier Indian Army publications on technological challenges. Two thematic seminars—Strategic Autonomy in Next Generation Advancement and Manufacturing (SANGAM) and Defence Industry Harnessing through Resilient UPEIDA Verticals and Alliances (DHRUVA)—will be held on May 5 and 6, bringing together experts from the armed forces, industry and academia to deliberate on capability development, emerging technologies and research trends.
The symposium aims to bridge the gap between the operational requirements of the armed forces and indigenous technological capabilities, contributing to the broader objective of defence self-reliance. Participation at the curtain raiser reflected strong interest and commitment from industry, start-ups and academic institutions towards strengthening India’s defence ecosystem.
