Srinagar, Sept 11 : ANB :In a major relief for farmers of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly apple growers, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday announced the start of a daily parcel-train service from Budgam to New Delhi.
The LG said the initiative will significantly ease transportation challenges faced by orchardists, ensuring timely delivery of their produce to major markets.
Calling it a historic step for the farming community, Sinha expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for facilitating the service.
“This move will bring huge relief to our apple growers and enhance their income opportunities,” he said.
The new service is expected to streamline logistics, reduce costs, and expand access for Kashmir’s horticulture sector to national markets. ANB
