DGP Nalin Prabhat Leads World Environment Day Plantation Drive in Srinagar

Srinagar, June 5: Marking World Environment Day, Jammu and Kashmir Police organized a tree plantation drive at the District Police Lines (DPL), Srinagar, reaffirming its commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development. The plantation campaign was led by Director General of Police (DGP) Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat, who planted a sapling and underscored the importance of collective action in protecting and preserving the environment. The event was also attended by Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, V.K. Birdi, and Deputy Inspector General of Police, Central Kashmir Range, Rajiv Pandey, who participated in the plantation drive alongside other senior officers. Senior Superintendent of Police Srinagar, G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, along with zonal Superintendents of Police and other police officials, was present on the occasion. Addressing the gathering, the DGP emphasized that environmental protection is a shared responsibility and called upon all sections of society to contribute towards building a greener, cleaner and healthier future. He highlighted the need for sustained efforts to maintain ecological balance and promote environmental awareness. The plantation drive forms part of the broader environmental initiatives being undertaken by Jammu and Kashmir Police to support conservation efforts and encourage sustainable practices. Participants pledged to ensure the proper care and maintenance of the saplings and to actively promote environmental stewardship within their communities. Jammu and Kashmir Police reiterated its commitment to public welfare through initiatives aimed at environmental protection, sustainable development and community engagement, alongside its core law enforcement responsibilities.
