JAMMU, November 25: The Jammu and Kashmir Government, through the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), showcased the Union Territory’s film-friendly initiatives at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, highlighting J&K as a premier destination for national and international filmmaking.
The UT delegation, led by Commissioner Secretary Information M. A dedicated J&K Pavilion was set up at the WAVES Film Bazaar, drawing significant attention from filmmakers, producers and industry professionals. The pavilion showcased the scenic potential of Jammu and Kashmir, while promoting the J&K Film Policy 2024, aimed at attracting large-scale Bollywood and international projects.
Director Information Nitish Rajora said that DIPR focused on presenting J&K as a top-tier filmmaking hub. He noted that the New Film Policy 2024 is designed to boost film tourism, support larger productions, and strengthen the region’s cultural visibility. More than 500 visitors interacted with DIPR representatives, seeking details on shooting locations, permissions and incentives, and many exchanged contacts expressing interest in filming in J&K.
DIPR also promoted J&K’s art, culture, cuisine and major tourist destinations during the festival.
During a session of the Knowledge Series at IFFI 2025, Director Information delivered a detailed presentation on the Film Policy, outlining the processes and benefits available to filmmakers.
The J&K Film Policy 2024 positions the UT as a prime shooting destination with a streamlined online single-window system for permissions. The policy offers 5–10% subsidy for films, 10–15% for documentaries and web series, along with additional incentives for projects that highlight Jammu and Kashmir or feature patriotic themes.
