DRAS WINTER CARNIVAL 2024 (JASHN-E-FATEH)

Leh  Tuesday, 06 Feb 2024 Dras Winter Carnival 2024 (Jashn-e-Fateh) was organised by Forever in Operations Division from 01 February to 06 February 2024. The festival this year has a special significance in view of the Rajat Jayanti of the Kargil Vijay Diwas, which commemorate 25 years of the Kargil War, wherein major battles were fought in the Dras Sector.

 

The event was conducted in collaboration with the Himalayan Sports and Cultural Development Organisation with an aim to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Dras Valley and to promote talent in the field of winter sports.

 

The youth of Dras unleashed their skills in the sporting competitions of Ice Hockey, held for both Men’s and Women’s team. The excitement for the Carnival this year has been bigger and better, as the community members in huge numbers braced themselves for the Cultural Carnival, Archery Tournaments, Balti Dances and some breathtaking martial arts moves performed by students of Army Goodwill Schools.

 

The culmination point of the regional competition was the closing ceremony on 06 Feb 24.  Various dignitaries such as General Officer Commanding, Fire and Fury Corps, General Officer Commanding, Forever in Operations Division, Commander, Drass Warrior Brigade and dignitaries from Civil Administration and sports clubs graced the occasion.

 

General Officer Commanding, Fire and Fury Corps, along with other dignitaries also took this opportunity to interact with the community members of Dras. They conveyed their sincere gratitude towards Indian Army for organising the tournaments in this remote part of the country. The efforts of the Army were appreciated for providing a platform for locals to celebrate and hone their skills in this remote region.
