Eid-ul-Adha Celebrated with Religious Fervor and Unity in Budhal

By Zahid Shah

Budhal, Rajouri — Eid-ul-Adha, the festival symbolizing sacrifice and devotion, was observed with deep religious fervor and communal harmony across the Budhal region of Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir. The festive spirit was vividly reflected in the streets, mosques, and homes, as people came together in celebration.

Eid prayers were offered at the central Eidgah in Budhal, as well as at various mosques and Eidgahs throughout the region. Large congregations gathered in the early morning hours, with worshippers clad in traditional attire standing shoulder to shoulder in prayer. Sermons delivered after the prayers emphasized the spiritual significance of sacrifice and compassion.

Following the prayers, people embraced one another and exchanged warm Eid greetings, reinforcing the bonds of brotherhood and unity. Special prayers were offered for peace, national prosperity, and the well-being of all humanity.

At the Central Jamia Masjid in Rajnagar Gabbar, the Imam delivered a stirring sermon focusing on the core values of Eid—sacrifice, empathy, and community service. He urged worshippers to remember the needy and embody the spirit of generosity throughout the celebrations.

The Imam also addressed a pressing social issue: the increasing prevalence of drug addiction among youth in the region. “It is painful to witness our educated youth falling prey to substance abuse,” he said. “We must guide them with both religious and modern education, ensuring a better, healthier future for our society.”
He called on parents, educators, and religious leaders to work together to raise awareness and create a supportive environment that helps steer young people away from addiction.

The festive atmosphere throughout Budhal was marked by the traditional practice of Qurbani (animal sacrifice), with meat distributed among family members, neighbors, and the underprivileged. Community kitchens and family feasts further added to the spirit of sharing and togetherness.

Markets in Budhal had been bustling in the days leading up to the festival, with vendors offering traditional sweets, festive clothing, and other seasonal goods. Local residents expressed joy over the peaceful and harmonious conduct of Eid.

“Eid unites us all—rich or poor, young or old,” said a Budhal resident. “It reminds us of our responsibilities toward one another.”

The district administration ensured smooth conduct of the celebrations, deploying adequate security in sensitive areas and monitoring the situation to prevent any untoward incidents.

As the day came to a close, the serene hills of Budhal echoed with the sounds of joy, prayer, and festivity—marking another Eid celebrated in peace, unity, and spiritual reflection.
