Home Minister Amit Shah Distributes Appointment Letters to Families Affected by Pakistan Shelling in Poonch

Jammu, May 30 | ANB News Service:
Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited Poonch today to assess the damage caused by Pakistan-administered Kashmir (PaK) shelling during Operation Sindoor. The shelling impacted homes, religious sites, and public infrastructure in the border town.

Accompanied by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, senior officials, and top security personnel, Shah met with the families affected by the shelling at the Dak Bungalow. He listened to their concerns, expressed condolences, and provided financial assistance to those impacted. Appointment letters were also handed over to the next of kin of those killed in the attacks.

The Home Minister visited several religious places that were damaged in the shelling, reaffirming the government’s commitment to restoration and support.

Earlier, Shah chaired a high-level security review meeting at Raj Bhawan in Jammu on Thursday night. The meeting focused on the overall security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and preparations for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, set to begin on July 3.

Top officials in attendance included Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, J&K Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, and heads of various paramilitary forces, police, and intelligence agencies.

“The government will leave no stone unturned to ensure all necessary facilities are provided to Amarnath pilgrims,” Shah emphasized. He instructed security forces to remain on high alert and ensure the pilgrimage proceeds without disruption.

“Chaired a review meeting for the Amarnath Yatra. Directed utmost vigilance and seamless arrangements to ensure the sacred journey concludes safely,” Shah stated.

The Home Minister arrived in Jammu on Thursday evening for a two-day visit. He was received at the technical airport by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and senior officials before proceeding to Raj Bhawan for the security review.

Shah is also expected to address BSF personnel at their Unit Headquarters in Khanetar on the outskirts of Poonch. He may visit additional local religious sites and interact with BSF troops deployed along the Line of Control (LoC).
