IGP Kashmir Reviews Security Arrangements for Independence Day Celebrations Across Valley
SRINAGAR, AUGUST 10: Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, V.K. Birdi, chaired a high-level security review meeting at Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir to assess the prevailing security situation and review arrangements for the forthcoming Independence Day celebrations and other scheduled events across the Kashmir Valley.
The meeting was attended by senior officers from the J&K Police, BSF, CRPF, SSB, CID, ITBP, RPF, Traffic Police, Security Wing, Armed Police and other security agencies, besides all range DIGs and district SSPs of Kashmir Zone.
At the outset, senior officers briefed the IGP on the security arrangements put in place for the smooth and peaceful conduct of Independence Day functions and other events. District SSPs apprised the meeting of preparations and security measures being implemented in their respective districts.
Birdi directed the officers to ensure that all necessary arrangements are completed well in advance and that security measures remain comprehensive and effective.
The IGP reviewed security arrangements for various events planned across the Valley, including rallies, and assigned specific responsibilities to the concerned officers. He also reviewed arrangements for the main Independence Day function at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar, directing officers to further strengthen security measures at and around the venue.
Birdi instructed officers to intensify security checks, particularly during night hours, at vulnerable locations and along major entry and exit routes of Srinagar. He also called for intensified area domination and patrolling in sensitive and vulnerable areas to maintain a strong security presence and ensure effective surveillance.
Emphasising the need for heightened alertness, the IGP directed all officers to maintain strict vigilance against elements inimical to peace and security and ensure close coordination among all concerned agencies.
The meeting concluded with directions for enhanced vigilance, strengthened inter-agency coordination and strict implementation of security protocols to ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of Independence Day celebrations and other scheduled events across the Kashmir Valley. ANB
