Indian Army Holds Veterinary Camp in Budgam’s Parthan, 120 Residents Benefit Under Operation Sadbhavana

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 12: The Indian Army’s 62 Rashtriya Rifles (Dogra) Battalion organised a veterinary camp at Parthan in Budgam district on Monday, providing livestock healthcare services and veterinary assistance to local residents under Operation Sadbhavana. The camp was organised under the operational area of Watrehal Camp with the objective of addressing the veterinary healthcare needs of the local population and supporting communities dependent on livestock and animal husbandry for their livelihoods. During the camp, livestock belonging to local villagers was examined and treated, while essential veterinary medicines were distributed. The initiative also focused on raising awareness about animal hygiene, disease prevention and appropriate livestock care practices. According to information released by the organisers, 120 local residents benefited from the camp, which sought to improve access to veterinary services in the area. The veterinary services were provided in coordination with the Civil Administration, with Dr Khalid Bashir and Dr Zubair Ahmad from the Animal Husbandry Department, Watrehal, Budgam, participating in the initiative. The camp was conducted under the supervision of Major Ujjawal Giri, while Captain Jeya Prakash served as the Regimental Medical Officer, the organisers said. Livestock remains an important source of income and economic security for many rural households. Timely veterinary care helps protect animals against diseases, improves their health and supports the livelihoods of families dependent on animal husbandry. Through such community-oriented initiatives under Operation Sadbhavana, the Indian Army seeks to extend welfare support to local residents and facilitate engagement with communities across Jammu and Kashmir. The camp concluded with an emphasis on animal welfare, preventive healthcare and community outreach. ANB
