Jammu and Kashmir police Organised Jammu Marathon 2025, Over 3000 Athletes from Across states participate



Jammu, March 16, ANB: Jammu and Kashmir Police successfully organized the “Jammu Marathon 2025”  ‘Run for Fun’, a prominent event under its Civic Action Programme (CAP), held at Gulshan Ground in Jammu today. 
According to the Associated News Bureau, with more than 3000 athletes from across various states and regions participating, the marathon saw an overwhelming turnout from individuals of all ages, including schoolchildren, veterans, and fitness enthusiasts.
The marathon covered a variety of distances across nine categories, catering to diverse participants. 
The event included routes ranging from a 21-km run from Gulshan Ground to Hill View Honda near Bajalta Crossing, to shorter runs of 10 km, 5 km, 4 km, and 2 km designed for different age groups and levels of competition. 
"Taking exclusively with Associated News Bureau ANB  on the sidelines of the function, the chief guest, MK Sinha said that purpose of Jammu marathan was to build sports culture among the students and youths, which would ultimately help to eradicate social evils from the society."
"Additional Director General of said sports and jk police has a old relationship.  Sports culture, youth activities and Civil Action programmes are regular activities of jk police is regularly getting directives from L.G Monoj Sinha of J and K UT to organise these youth related activities and entire police family is highly thankful of him.

The ADGP further said that country is facing challenge from neighbouring country, which is spreading terrorism and drugs."

'However , he said  jk police, is enough capable to overcome from these problems, with the support of local youths.He also said that police wants to enlist Jammu marathan among the best marathans in the country. Like Delhi Marathan and Mumbai Marathon.'

He said that in today's Marathan 3 thousand school going children participated and they are hopeful in next year marathon it will create record number of participants."

Sinha, during his address, expressed his appreciation for the massive participation of athletes from across Jammu and Kashmir, as well as from other states. He emphasized that such events are crucial in fostering community engagement and in keeping the youth away from harmful activities like drugs. He stressed the importance of continued sports initiatives in the future.

After The Event,prize distribution ceremony was attended by prominent officials, including M.K. Sinha, Additional Director General of Police, Headquarters/Coordination PHQ, J&K, who was the chief guest at the event. Along with the Chief Guest, senior police officers and retired officials distributed medals, certificates, and cash prizes worth Rs. 1,84,000 among the winners across various categories.

Earlier, Anand Jain, IPS, ADGP Armed, in his speech, highlighted the long-standing commitment of J&K Police in serving the community through programs like the Civic Action Programme. He thanked all the officers, sports authorities, and agencies for their role in ensuring the success of the event and emphasized the need to involve more youth in such activities to help them stay engaged in positive pursuits.

Earlier while flagging off the ceremony Anand Jain, IPS, ADGP Armed Police J&K, along with other dignitaries, including Sarah Rizvi, IPS, DIG IRP Jammu, Shiv Kumar, IPS, DIG JSK Range, Rajesh Kumar, IPS, SSP Security Jammu, and Joginder Singh, SSP Jammu, Dalip Kumar,SSP, SO to ADGP Armed along with senior officers from the Jammu-based battalions.

The Jammu Marathon-2025 is part of the J&K Police’s ongoing efforts to promote fitness, foster community spirit, and encourage healthy lifestyles among the youth. Through such events, J&K Police aims to continue its efforts in engaging the community, building strong bonds with the public, and ensuring the active participation of citizens in activities that promote peace and well-being.
