Mumbai, October 2025:A delegation of journalists from Jammu and Kashmir successfully concluded a week media exposure tour in Mumbai, organized by the Press Information Bureau (PIB). The tour served as an invaluable opportunity for hands-on learning, professional engagement, and inter-regional exchange.
Prior to departure, an orientation session was held in Srinagar, where Qazi Salman, Director, PIB Srinagar, along with Majid Mushtaq, Media & Communication Officer, briefed the participating journalists about the objectives, importance, and expected outcomes of the tour. The session highlighted the Government of India’s vision to promote inclusive media development by building stronger ties between regional and national media networks.
Upon arrival in Mumbai, the delegation was accorded a warm and traditional welcome by PIB Mumbai officials, marked by the presentation of the Fainta turban—a cherished symbol of Maharashtra’s cultural richness and hospitality. This thoughtful gesture set a gracious and respectful tone for the days that followed.
The delegation was led by Neha Jalali, Director, PIB Jammu, and the entire tour was meticulously coordinated by PIB Mumbai, whose outstanding logistical support and hospitality drew appreciation from all participants. The exposure tour was a part of PIB’s ongoing efforts to enhance media literacy, promote professional development, and encourage mutual understanding among journalists from diverse regions of the country.

Each visit involved interactive briefings and in-depth sessions with senior officials who offered insights into their respective domains—from economic resilience, maritime security, and infrastructure development to urban governance, higher education, cinematic heritage, and disaster preparedness.
A key highlight of the tour was an engaging interaction at PIB Mumbai with Smt. Smita Vats Sharma, Director General (West Zone), where participants discussed the evolving media landscape, challenges of ethical journalism, and the pivotal role of regional media in shaping responsible public discourse.
Speaking on the occasion, Neha Jalali, Director, PIB Jammu, commended the zeal and professionalism of the participating journalists, describing the tour as “a bridge of learning, national unity, and journalistic collaboration.” She emphasized that such initiatives play a crucial role in expanding perspectives and building a shared national narrative rooted in mutual respect and understanding.
The delegation expressed heartfelt gratitude to PIB Jammu, PIB Srinagar, PIB Mumbai, and all participating institutions—including JNPA, MMRDA, NFDC, NMIC, Film City Mumbai, IIT Bombay PRO Office, MCGM, Disaster Management Department, and the Department of Atomic Energy—for their exceptional hospitality, enriching sessions, and seamless coordination.
Describing the experience as “an unforgettable professional milestone,” the journalists stated that the exposure significantly enhanced their understanding of India’s administrative and institutional frameworks while reinforcing journalistic solidarity across regions.
As the tour concluded, participants unanimously praised the efforts of PIB Jammu Director Neha Jalali, PIB Srinagar, and the PIB Mumbai team, calling the initiative a shining example of media cooperation, professional development, and national integration in action.
