Srinagar, October 2: ANB : The Jammu and Kashmir Government, has accorded administrative approval for the restoration of the traditional pilgrimage route to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine at an estimated cost of Rs 15 crore. The project is aimed at preserving the historical and cultural character of the traditional route while strengthening infrastructure and improving facilities for pilgrims undertaking the revered journey.The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine is among the prominent pilgrimage destinations in Jammu and Kashmir and attracts millions of devotees from across the country and abroad each year. According to the government, the restoration work will focus on improving the traditional route and associated facilities to provide pilgrims with a safer, smoother and more convenient journey while retaining its historical significance. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah emphasised that development of pilgrimage infrastructure should be undertaken alongside the preservation of the heritage and traditional character of important religious sites across Jammu and Kashmir.
