Mumbai: Jammu and Kashmir Tourism has earned two prestigious recognitions at the recently concluded India International Travel Mart (IITM) in Mumbai, being adjudged the Best Adventure Tourism Destination and Best Experiential Tourism Destination.
The awards were received by Waseem Raja, Joint Director Tourism, Kashmir, on behalf of the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department.
The dual recognition underscores Jammu and Kashmir’s growing prominence on the national tourism landscape and reflects the increasing appeal of the Union Territory as a preferred destination for adventure seekers and travellers looking for distinctive and immersive tourism experiences.
IITM, a prominent tourism promotion event organised across several states of the country, witnessed the participation of Jammu and Kashmir Tourism alongside various state tourism departments, including Gujarat and Telangana, as well as private-sector stakeholders. The event was held at the Bombay Convention and Exhibition Centre, Goregaon, Mumbai.
The Jammu and Kashmir Tourism stall attracted an encouraging response from tour operators, travel professionals and tourism stakeholders from Maharashtra, with hundreds of visitors exploring the stall during the two-day event.
The J&K Tourism delegation comprised Waseem Raja, Joint Director Tourism, Kashmir, and Vivek Puri, Chief Executive Officer, Surinsar-Mansar Development Authority.
During the two-day event, the delegation held detailed interactions and business meetings with prominent tour operators and key stakeholders from Maharashtra's tourism industry, exploring avenues for strengthening tourism promotion, expanding market outreach and fostering greater collaboration to attract more visitors to Jammu and Kashmir.
