JKLCMA VC Inspects Dole Demb, Reviews Beautification and Restoration Plan

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 5: Vice Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Lake Conservation and Management Authority (JKLCMA), Khurshid Ahmad Shah, on Monday conducted an extensive inspection of the Dole Demb area to assess the existing condition of the water body and review the scope for its beautification, restoration and development. The Vice Chairman was accompanied by the Superintending Engineer, Collector Land Acquisition, FA&CAO, Executive Engineers of Lake Division-I and Lake Division-II, Technical Officer, Assistant Executive Engineers, Junior Engineers and other officers and officials of the Authority. During the inspection, Shah reviewed the proposed development measures and emphasised that the site should be developed in a planned and environmentally sustainable manner while preserving the ecological character of the water body. He directed the concerned officers to incorporate modern landscaping, suitable plantation, improved pathways, aesthetic features and other essential public amenities in the proposed beautification plan. He said the site should be developed as a modern public space without compromising its environmental character. The Vice Chairman observed that the development of Dole Demb would also help enhance the tourism potential of the area and contribute to attracting more visitors to the Dal Lake and its adjoining areas. He directed the concerned officers to undertake bush cutting and necessary site-clearance works immediately to improve the appearance and accessibility of the area. He said the measures would facilitate the commencement of further dredging and restoration works at Dole Demb. Shah also instructed the Engineering Wing to prepare detailed estimates for the proposed beautification and development works and stressed the need for close coordination among the Engineering, Revenue and field wings to ensure timely planning and execution of the project. He emphasised that the proposed development should focus on environmental improvement, restoration of the water body and enhancement of the area's visual appeal and public utility. Reiterating the Authority's commitment to the conservation and beautification of water bodies and their surrounding areas, the Vice Chairman said the LCMA would continue to undertake integrated conservation, restoration and development measures aimed at improving urban water bodies and creating clean, attractive and environmentally sustainable spaces for residents and tourists. He added that such initiatives would also contribute to strengthening the tourism potential of Dal Lake and its adjoining areas.
