Jammu, March 18: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today participated in the evening Aarti at Raghunath Temple and urged citizens to organise regular Aarti ceremonies along riverbanks across the Jammu Division to promote cultural and spiritual awareness.
Addressing devotees at the event organised by the Shri Raghunath Ji Ki Jammu Aarti Sanstha, the Lieutenant Governor said such gatherings reflect India’s enduring reverence for Nari Shakti and the philosophy of Ardhanarishvar, while invoking blessings for all living beings. He encouraged local communities to hold daily or weekly evening Aartis in towns and villages, stating that the practice would help reconnect younger generations with the country’s spiritual heritage.
Sinha described the evening Aarti as “a discipline of the soul” and a conscious effort to inspire gratitude and reflection on the source of existence. He said each flame lit during the ritual symbolises devotion, each prayer represents a dialogue with the divine, and participation in the ceremony marks a step towards inner spiritual awakening.
Highlighting the relevance of such practices in modern life, the Lieutenant Governor noted that the fast-paced nature of contemporary society necessitates moments of meditation and introspection. He said the Jammu Aarti offers people from all walks of life an opportunity to rediscover their inner spiritual wealth.
Sinha also underscored ongoing efforts to develop Jammu—often referred to as the “City of Temples”—as a global spiritual hub and a key destination for religious tourism. He said that organising Aarti ceremonies at prominent धार्मिक sites such as the Raghunath Temple would enhance the spiritual experience for pilgrims visiting Vaishno Devi Temple and Amarnath Cave, while also contributing to the local economy.
Emphasising the importance of cultural continuity, he said such gatherings play a crucial role in fostering self-realisation and enabling the younger generation to understand and imbibe spiritual values. He added that the youth must recognise the intangible legacy they have inherited, describing it as an “inner treasure” rather than material wealth or status.
The event was attended by Dr. Ritu Singh, Chairperson of the organising संस्था, along with other office bearers, prominent citizens, and devotees.
