LG Manoj Sinha Reviews Readiness for 100-Day Anti-Drug Campaign, Calls for Mass Mobilisation Across J&K

Jammu, April 9, 2026: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting to assess preparedness for the forthcoming 100-day intensive campaign under the ‘Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan’.
The campaign, aimed at eliminating drug abuse from the Union Territory, will feature a series of high-impact awareness initiatives. The Lieutenant Governor is scheduled to flag off a mega padyatra from MA Stadium on April 11, followed by a similar large-scale launch in Srinagar in the first week of May.
Emphasising the need for broad-based participation, the Lieutenant Governor called for active involvement of students and youth, NCC, NSS, Scouts and Guides, volunteers, civil society organisations, political parties, public representatives and the general public to maximise outreach.
He described the influx of drugs into the Union Territory as part of a larger international conspiracy aimed at undermining the future of the youth, and urged all sections of society to unite against the menace.
Directing intensified enforcement measures, he stressed the need for sustained operations to dismantle drug trafficking networks. Reiterating the administration’s approach, he underscored that innocent individuals must be protected while strict action should be taken against offenders, alongside focused rehabilitation efforts for victims of substance abuse.
The meeting also reviewed the activity calendar prepared by various departments for the campaign. Committees at the Union Territory and divisional levels have already been constituted to ensure effective implementation of the IEC strategy and action plan.
The Lieutenant Governor further directed that the campaign be transformed into a जन आंदोलन (people’s movement) through active public participation. He also called for incorporating public feedback and encouraged citizens to report instances of drug abuse to strengthen the initiative.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, senior police and civil administration officials, including divisional commissioners, inspectors general of police, deputy commissioners and senior superintendents of police.
