Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha attended the 3rd Aerosol Winter School on “Atmospheric Aerosol, Cloud & Climate Science” at the Central University of Jammu, where he underscored the urgent need for accurate cloudburst prediction and long-term climate forecasting.
In his keynote address, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted the importance of developing advanced machine learning models and enhancing real-time data integration to issue timely, clear alerts to authorities and the public. He called upon scientists and Artificial Intelligence experts to collaborate for a cleaner, greener, and healthier future.
“Let us dedicate ourselves to tackling climate challenges, advancing clean energy, and strengthening environmental resilience,” he said.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Lieutenant Governor stated that the administration continues to promote scientific collaboration, boost high-quality research, and support transformative initiatives in solar energy, water security, rural connectivity, and pollution abatement for the prosperous future of Jammu & Kashmir.
On the occasion, he launched “Atmos Kids – the Gen Alpha Change-makers”, a joint initiative of the Himalayan High Altitude Atmospheric and Climate Research Centre, Central University of Jammu, and the Indian National Young Academy of Science (INYAS), INSA. The initiative aims to inspire and educate school students, nurturing a generation of environmentally conscious changemakers.
The event was organized by the Himalayan High Altitude Atmospheric and Climate Research (H2A2CR) Centre in collaboration with INYAS, INSA, ETH Zürich, and the Department of Environmental Sciences, CUJ. Senior officials, faculty members, and students were also in attendance.
