LG Manoj Sinha Highlights Telangana’s Literary Legacy at Statehood Day Celebration in Srinagar

Srinagar, June 2: The Statehood Day of Telangana was celebrated at Jammu and Kashmir Lok Bhavan on Tuesday in the presence of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who highlighted the cultural, literary and historical contributions of Telangana while emphasizing the shared spiritual heritage between Telangana and Jammu and Kashmir. Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor described it as a remarkable coincidence that both Jammu and Kashmir and Telangana are regarded as sacred lands of Lord Shiva. He underscored Telangana’s rich literary tradition, noting that its distinguished writers and poets have played a significant role in awakening social consciousness and advancing social reforms over the centuries. Referring to the region’s literary heritage, Sinha said that from the 11th-century works of Malliya Rechanna to the poetic contributions of modern literary figures such as Atreya and Dasarathi Krishnamacharyulu, Telangana has made a lasting contribution to Indian literature. The Lieutenant Governor also paid tributes to renowned freedom fighters and tribal leaders, including Ramji Gond, Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju, acknowledging their sacrifices and contributions to the nation’s freedom movement. Highlighting Telangana’s role in nation-building, he said that the region’s farmers, soldiers, scientists, entrepreneurs, poets and artists have made significant contributions to the country’s progress and development. Calling for unity and collective progress, Sinha urged citizens to draw strength from India’s diversity, celebrate its rich cultural heritage and work together towards a prosperous future. The event was attended by officials and dignitaries and marked the commemoration of Telangana’s Statehood Day with cultural and literary reflections on the state’s contribution to the nation.
