Jammu, Aug 29: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has ordered the constitution of a three-member high-level committee to probe the tragic landslide incident that occurred near Ardhkuwari on the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi track on August 26.
The committee will be headed by Additional Chief Secretary, Jal Shakti Department, Shaleen Kabra, with Divisional Commissioner Jammu and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu as its members.
According to an official statement, the committee has been tasked with examining in detail the causes and reasons behind the incident and identifying any lapses. It will also assess the rescue and relief measures undertaken in response to the tragedy and suggest standard operating procedures (SoPs) and preventive measures to avert such incidents in the future.
The panel has been directed to submit its report to the Lieutenant Governor within two weeks.
